This is the first comedy spec sale of the year, isn't it? Not looking so good for my genre of choice. Or maybe it's just the natural ebb and flow.

There has been a decline in Comedy spec sales over the last 2-3 years. Primary reason: Conventional wisdom that comedy doesn't travel as well overseas as more visually oriented genres like Action and Thriller. But like all things in Hollywood, it's cyclical. And if it's any comfort to you, my next script is a comedy. BTW I am interviewing Craig Mazin soon (The Hangover 2, Identity Thief) and will ask his opinion about this subject.
