Oh Cool, I love Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day is a favorite. It should be noted that the version of script (2nd Draft, 01/09/92) at the link differs significantly from the movie. For example, the setup in the movie is faster paced. In the movie, the crew is on the road to Punxsutawney by the 4th minute. Whereas in the script, they are not on the road until page 8.

pgronk, I've checked everywhere for a later version of the script that is hosted online, but can't find it. If you know a link, please email to me. Thanks.

I haven't been able to find a copy of the script on-line that is close to the final cut. I've got a draft version 2 as well as a draft version 3 by Harold Ramis, dated 1/30/92. A copy of that draft number 3 can be had this link: http://screenplayexplorer.com/wp-content/scripts/Groundhog-Day.pdf But, again, both versions are significantly different from the final cut of the movie. So the question is, what to discuss, the plot, structure, themes, etc. as reflected in the final product, the movie, or rough drafts that are much different? I myself would prefer to discuss the script as it is reflected in the final product, the movie. It's a wonderful, well-crafted story in so many ways.
