What a treasure, Scott. I'm so glad you finally got the picture. Seriously: do yourself and posterity a favor and put a note on the back to say what it is. Or even print out this blog post, put it in an envelope, and tape it on the back. Good stories deserve to be recorded. Connect the photo with its provenance and it may serve as a talisman for generations of writers to come.

This is a beautiful post, Scott. Reminds me of the time I saw Kafka's flat in Prague -- it just kind of took me to an entirely different place mentally.
