Love love love this movie. I've watched it about twenty times. This scene in particular is absolutely staggering. And Teddy is right, the dialogue itself is not particularly noteworthy in that it's not clever clever or anything like that. But it's raw and guttural and almost has more impact because of its simplicity.

In general, one would expect that a lot of the dialogue in birth scenes would be left up to the actors to ad lib and bring to life, so to speak. In this scene, the encouragements from Theo and the screams from Kee are different than in the script, but the point and arc of the scene remains the same.

Good stuff. I think of the entire movie as a vehicle to set up and deliver this scene, and in particular the later scene during which all fighting stops, and everyone stares as the child passes through their midst. How many films capture a moment of such power?
