Timothy, I'm reminded of anecdote I believe comes from William Goldman's excellent book "Adventures in the Screen Trade." He describes an NBA player with whom he was friends at the time. Even though he was a pro basketball player, this individual was known for the incredible amount of time he spent practicing his trade in the gym. Goldman asked him why he worked so hard. Response: "Because when I'm not working at it, someone else is." Screenwriting and TV writing is an enormously competitive business. There are many things one needs to do to succeed: Working your ass off is one of them.
