I think Al Pacino's Scarface may have overtaken him, but Alex is still at least the second most famous cinematic anti-hero of all time - I was chatting with some teenagers at the local burrito joint and seeing A CLOCKWORK ORANGE is still a rite of passage for boys, just like it was in my day.

Some more trivia - Stanley Donen was ok with Kubrick's use of "Singing in the Rain," and was even friendly with Kubrick and a dinner guest of his from time to time. Gene Kelley, OTOH, was completely appalled.

All these "viddied… gloopy… oomny" have confused me at first and only minutes later I understood that it's Russian. The reason for these words, I suppose, is his interest in classical music (presumably you can't like that one without feelings to the classical Russian literature) or hell knows what else. His desire to look like (and feel like) something more that he actually is, but which is looking goofy. What is cool is that we understand these words without even knowing their meanings.
