What tips do you have for conducting story research?
For a great starting point - especially for stories that are time period specific - I like to dive into Google News Archives. I also like to do an "advanced" search in Google Books and limit my search request to certain time periods.
Right now I'm working on a story set in the early 1900s and I have been searching on Google Books for info concerning autopsies and how they were performed during that time period. Also have been looking through articles between 1875 - 1910 that deal with mysterious drownings and seeing if there are any nuggets that could work their way into my story.
