Once again, I am dead jealous. I wish I'd had opportunities like this when I was a kid (and pleaded desperately with my baffled parents to homeschool me).
For your class, Scott: have you considered throwing in some Mircea Eliade, too? He complements Campbell well, and The Myth of the Eternal Return might be a good starting point.
I brought up feminist criticism of Jungian archetypes in a comments on an archetype post a while back; I'm sure you're aware of how "erasing" and alienating Campbell's language (and some of his concepts; Jung all the moreso) can be for women. It sounds like really digging into this would be outside the scope of your class but I hope you'll at least touch on it in the course of the material. Girls are implicitly and explicitly instructed that they are "other", "less" and "not hero material" from a very young age, and your class seems like a really exciting opportunity to dispel those negative messages.
I hope you and Rebecca will keep us posted on how this venture goes. It sounds fantastic and I wish you the very best!
