The primary character archetypes I keep talking about -- Protagonist, Nemesis, Attractor, Mentor, Trickster? They work beautifully with The Social Network: Protagonist: Mark Zuckerberg. While in the External World, he gains a 'kingdom,' in the Internal World, he loses his 'soul,' physicalized by the loss of his only friend [Eduardo] and his plaintive 'friending' attempt with Erica in the Denouement. Nemesis: The Winklevoss twins. Attractor: Erica. Mentor: Eduardo. He provides the logarithm at the beginning of the story, the start-up money for TheFacebook project, early business advice, more seed money, all Mentor functions. But most importantly, he is Z's best friend. Trickster: Sean Parker. Boom! Those are all the major characters in the movie [amazing how few there are] and they slot in quite neatly with these archetypes.

I think the actors (and Sorkin) sum up the themes pretty damn well: 'It talks about power and greed and loyalty and jealousy and betrayal and ambition and class and power, all of these incredibly explosive, powerful things that we go through as human beings on a daily basis'
