At first, my plot process is pretty elementary. I brainstorm about how the story should begin. Once that's achieved, I figure out what would make a meaningful ending. With those two nailed down, the middle becomes the bridge between the beginning and eventual end.
So, I write the beginning (with the end in mind) to introduce the middle, then the middle (bulging with conflict) is crafted so that everything leads to a meaningful end.
I paraphrase Aristotle. "Beginning. Middle. End. 'Nuff said."
