Thanks for such a bright morning post, Jason! I love this character and the movie, which as you point out is a far cry from the original concept (thank God). The movie also has some great moments and lines that are not in the kinda-late script that I have -- indicating the characters kept evolving as this great ROMCOM continued through development. One of the elements I admire most is that both Vivian and Edward arc in significant - yet credible - ways during their week together. They truly earn the right to say they have rescued each other at the end. Additionally, two secondary characters are transformed by their witness to Vivian's and Edward's transformative romance. Hotel manager Barney Thompson (Hector Elizondo) becomes a devoted ally of Viv's and discreetly sets up the White Knight ending by telling Edward the limo driver knows where Miss Vivian lives. And Viv's hooker roommate Kit (Laura San Giacomo) has her hopes restored and is planning a career change to cosmetology at the end. Gotta love it. Thanks again.

Wow... Great job Jason. I specially love the insight of what the producer wanted and her changes from a stereo typed prostitute to a sympathetic rich character. I hope you post a few more. Thanks again Speedo

Thank you for your great insight Judy. I didn't even think about Vivian's effect on Barney and Kit. You are right on with that. She helped Barney not look down on her - hopefully making him less judgmental and she helped Kit look up to her and pursuing higher aspirations. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your encouragement George. I love this "Great Character's" section that Scott has here and GITS is my favorite site on the web period. So I definitely enjoy these guest posts. It is cool to learn even more about these characters from each other as well.
