Congrats and good luck to everyone.

Goddamn, I thought I nailed this one, making the first cut. I hammered poor Scott with 10 of my best loglines. I gave it my best shot, so there is nothing to regret. It's the fierce competition that makes this business worth the trouble. But those 21 concepts gotta be diamond to make all my ten fall short. Good luck to the winners. Thank you Scott for the opportunity, the commitment, and the unreal efforts you spent reading those submissions. I'll keep swinging, coach, I gotta knock that failure sonovabitch down someday. I'm not quiting till I sell a script, or die trying.
donna at 2012-06-26 19:08:55:
So happy for all who were selected! What an opportunity. Looking forward to reading the final works. Thanks, again, Scott, for all the support for us pre-pros.
Darren McLeod at 2012-06-26 19:35:58:
Congratulations to all those that made the first cut! Happy to see such a diversity of locations.

Congratulations all! And a particular congrats goes to Emma Millions for having the Name of Destiny.
James McCormick at 2012-06-26 19:40:06:
Congrats all! And congrats Naomi!
Don Jefferson at 2012-06-26 19:42:57:
First, congratulations to the "22". Well done. To the rest - rejoice! We have no deadlines but our own now. I, for one, will operate in the shadowy underworld of "the other 3607" - using Scott's blog to educate ourselves. Stealing crumbs of information and vanishing into the night. Pushing ourselves. Writing by ourselves. Game on.
Scribbler Jones at 2012-06-26 19:57:25:
Congratulations to everyone. I love that both women and men are represented on this list. Where less than 10% of produced movies last year were written by women, this goes to show that women CAN write, women are ORIGINAL -- but perhaps Hollywood isn't being gender blind like Scott Myers when making decisions about what to select.
Shaula Evans at 2012-06-26 20:02:30:
Congratulations to all of you! And to you, too, Scott for surviving the grueling work of the first cuts yourself! I'm with Scribbler Jones: I'm thrilled to see how many women are on the list, and I'm excited by the geographic diversity, too. Scott, I hope there's a lot less disappointment out here than you've braced for. It's easy to be happy for these people. And you've been generous in making space for everyone else who's so inclined to play along at home, too. I hope there's just a lot of excitement and vicarious celebration today.
Monique Mata at 2012-06-26 20:26:42:
High fives to the 22 writers. Best of luck in the next round. Can't wait to go on my own Quest!! Thank you, Scott, for all you do.
jolli68 at 2012-06-26 20:41:05:
Scott! I even checked the spam filter. Unless you're trying to sell Viagra or posing as Lydia, my Ukrainian wife to be, I guess I didn't make it. Kudos to the ones that did. I'll be rooting for my European neighbors! Thanks for the ride, Scott. It's been a blast.
BrandiLGulledge at 2012-06-26 22:12:19:
Scribbler Jones--- Makes me wonder how many in Hollywood look at the name on the script and make a decision based on that. The way Scott did it, I think made it easier just to look at the work, not at anything else. Perhaps he can help nudge Hollywood a bit by showing that females CAN write. =)
churnage at 2012-06-26 22:46:13:
Like 3,000+ of you, I was pretty bummed last night and today. I knew the odds were slim, but I thought one of the three loglines I submitted would be the golden ticket. But, alas, friends, there is no golden ticket. Win or lose, you still gotta do the work. So shake off your disappointment... pull down thy bitterness... and get back to work. The quest is there for all of us. We just have to find the way. Congrats to the 22 writers who made the first cut. And congratulations to the rest of you as well. Your submitted logline is just a first step. Keep going... deeper into the story.
nicholasofpain at 2012-06-26 23:48:08:
I'll add my voice to the kudos. I might be slightly bummed, but I wasn't hinging my life on this moment. I'm right back to work. Networking and writing. Networking and writing...
George Speed at 2012-06-26 23:57:39:
Dido the above... Scott you created a safe secure environment for all of us. I thank you for that. You continue to amaze me with your dedication to scribes. I considered Blake Snyder my mentor and he constantly show kindness and support for all aspiring writers. I believe you walk in his shadow. Again, thank you for you hand up for all of us. Writers need dedication and courage to survive our chosen career path. You've allowed us all to stretch our creative juices. Namaste Speedo
Suzanne Bragdon at 2012-06-27 00:41:53:
Take a breather, Scott (though you still have the challenge of narrowing down the winners to four!!! - hopefully you can unwind by July 4th!) I'll be Questing alongside you and the four big-winners (so I thank you for that!) But I also look forward to any guidance you can share in the future on crafting those amazing loglines... I still have faith that I've got some great stories to tell, but if one can't crack the dynamite logline or query letter challenge, we're doomed! Best to all that made the first cut. We're all rooting for you! SB
Sean Z P Harris at 2012-06-27 02:21:53:
Indeed, congrats you to fine fellows! I hope to see all of your names pop up in Scott's spec script sell posts over the next few years (along with mine, of course). Scott - Did a large number of people submitted more than one logline? (I recall Teddy Pasternak mention that he had 22 loglines.) Not sure why, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the stats generated by The Quest.
Aaron Arlotti at 2012-06-27 02:23:14:
Scott, Once again, thank you for the opportunity. You are a fantastic teacher. I have already learned the following: 1. This business is tough. I need to fight through the disappointments and work harder. 2. I need to improve my concepts and loglines. 3. Be ready for any opportunity that may arise. Congratulations to all those that made it through the first round!
Teddy Pasternak at 2012-06-27 03:20:10:
Nope. Good old Teddy didn't submit any! Must've been someone else who had that many loglines.
Sean Z P Harris at 2012-06-27 05:33:20:
Damn my gin soaked mind! Swear it was you. Oh well. Someone did.
Anne Burgot at 2012-06-27 05:49:03:
Congrats and good luck to all who made it! Back to my original plan with mine, which only means I have a couple more in the works, I snatched a co-writer for one of them, got interest in another while brainstorming and bouncing ideas off people I know, plus I've already learned to structure my prep a lot better. All good stuff in my book. I'm all the more determined and focussed. :)
David Joyner at 2012-06-27 06:49:34:
Congratulations and good luck to all! What a great idea, Scott - thanks!
John Arends at 2012-06-27 07:18:54:
Kudos and congrats to the first rounders! And ditto on the coolness of the diversity that emerged. That rocks, too! Thanks, Scott, for elevating the importance of the idea in all of our writerly heads. And to all of you knuckleheads who keep asking Scott to break his promise and share the list of loglines...enough already! Scott, I live in Chicago. I know a guy. If they keep askin'...
Diogo Figueira at 2012-06-27 08:16:41:
Congratulations everybody, I will be following The Quest as thoroughly anyway!
TheQuietAct at 2012-06-27 08:20:10:
An Ode to The Quest (a.k.a. the most fun disappointment you're ever going to receive) Lord for some relief, I sent out a prayer, I am hounded by these people, I can't evade them anywhere. Some are full of life. Some sadly are dead. Regardless of their state of health, They wander in my head. They are a bit dramatic, They often face conflict, A mundane Tuesday for them, Is being slammed into the nick. SOME OF THEM TALK LOUDLY, AS IF THEY THINK YOU'RE DEAF, Others pass by silently, Quiet acts leave me impressed. Regardless of their nature, They don't want to be misunderstood, They want a mouthpiece for their voice, They have cinemas to flood. They pop up and remind me, at the most inopportune of times, They want to get out And play about, The Quest- it is their sign. The Quest- Get out of me head. Pronto. The Eviction Process.
Ken Glover at 2012-06-27 11:50:09:
CONGRATS TO ALL 22!! Alas! Such sweet sorrow! There is no disappointment on this end, just the fact that Scott gave us all a fair shot is awesome! Just waiting for the true QUEST to begin so I can learn MORE and MORE. Just a matter of time! Great job folks!
montana malone at 2012-06-27 12:07:19:
Scott, You spoke of the importance of a log line being able to be condensed into 6 words in one of your blogs and in another blog, you wrote of the importance of a title. How many of the 21 log lines had only 6 words? How much did the title attached to the log line influence your decision? Did any advance based solely on their title? Thanks much for everything! Sincerely, Montana Malone
Chris Vickery at 2012-06-27 12:08:19:
Thanks so much for the opportunity, Scott. I look forward to seeing what these guys churn out through this process! Hell, I'm stoked to see what I churn out following along! Anyway, I really dig what you're doing here, and I hope it works out really well!
Lars Egholm Fischmann at 2012-06-28 07:23:14:
Congratulations to everyone who participated and good luck to the ones that made the first pass. One thing that I can tell from the list of the "chosen few" is that it doesn't look like GITS is read much outside US/Canada and England. Even Drew Bryan is Canadian even though living in Denmark. I'll advertise GITS on my FB wall :)
Shaula Evans at 2012-06-28 13:53:15:
Godmorgen, Lars! Speaking of the wider population of GITS, I have a question for *you*: Do you know of places on the Internet where Danish- or European- or just non-American screewnwriters congregate? Most of the screenwriting sites I'm familiar with are A) in English; B) based in America; and C) strongly rooted in Hollywood industry sensibilities. I've wondered for a long time where everyone else gets together to talk screenwriting (and it doesn't have to be in English), and likewise where people get their hands on non-Hollywood scripts. (If I ever got the chance to read scripts for Riget or Forbrydelsen or Adam's Apples, for example, I'd be ecstatic.) I don't mean to set you up as Ambassador of the European Union (although you're welcome to the title if you like it!) but I thought I'd ask in case you had any good suggestions.
Lars Egholm Fischmann at 2012-06-28 19:47:00:
Well, I'll be damned :) I have plenty of suggestions, but wether any of them are good is a different story. There are a few danish ones on FB that I know of, but generally I'm unaware of any EU specific sites aside from http://euroscript.co.uk/ . Perhaps Scott know more?
Shaula Evans at 2012-06-28 19:51:18:
Thank you for the link, Lars. I'm checking it out right now. Hope I can return the favour some time. :)
Lars Egholm Fischmann at 2012-06-28 19:53:57:
You can hit me up on FB if you're there and I'll invite you to the pages I know of :)
Shaula Evans at 2012-06-28 20:09:01:
You're too kind, Lars, but alas, I'm not on Facebook (I have no desire to put myself at risk for identity theft or to pimp out my private information and that of my friends to make money for a corporation). But I do appreciate the offer.
