Wow. This looks like it's going to be amazing.

I'm really excited about this movie, as Joe Wright has said that he's going to do it in a highly theatrical style, where parts of the film are literally performed on a stage. Running with the idea that the characters' lives were like performances on a stage, the film will blur the line between cinematic and theatrical styles. You can get hints of that in this trailer. With Tom Stoppard involved, I think the melding of the cinematic and theatrical styles will be done is a well-thought-out and sophisticated way. I think it's going to be very very different from the norm, and not what people expect. I can't wait to see it.

In that light, Stoppard seems like the perfect choice. I don't think there's anyone better at exploring meta-narrative, breaking that fourth wall, etc. Maybe Kaufman, but he's a little more obvious about it. And Wright is brilliant. Atonement had similar themes (interweaving fiction with life, the repercussions they can have on each other). Can't wait for this one.

This looks great. And most impressive is the SCREENWRITER GOT A SINGLE CARD TITLE. When do you EVER see that?
