I like that these rules are simple to understand, and a challenge to follow. Reminds me of the Two Rules of Advertising. (1) Get their attention. (2) Overwhelm them with charm.

I read an article by a copywriter who worked for a big ad agency, then switched to publishing. He was floored at how weak novelists were, how timid and unsure. Complete pushovers. He said that he fought harder for a comma in a tampon ad than novelists fought for an entire chapter. They just didn't seem to believe in themselves, in the quality of their work. He figured they got what they deserved.

In reading rules #1 and #2, I was reminded that the area in between is called the perineum. :)

Just to be clear, most producers and directors aren't as... uh... indiscreet as Max. At least on a regular basis. But one of the reasons I like to have Max as a presence on GITS is he's good preparation for the big personalities you will meet in Hollywood. Very few people succeed as studio execs, producers, directors, agents and so forth without a healthy ego, and the propensity to display it.

Also, the 'taint -- as in, it ain't this and it ain't that. (But that's just a southern regionalism. No pun intended.)

Thanks, that illustration is just what I needed drinking a Smuttynose Really Old Brown Dog Ale. I think with 10% ABV (alcohol by volume) on a 1 pint, 6 oz bottle made me think "hmmm.... fondu pot" at first.
