I am kind of shocked to admit i love this.

Melissa McCarthy was so awesome in this scene. I think it's this scene alone that got her the Best Supporting Actress nod. The scene itself is also a great example of the "Save the Cat!" beat known as the Dark Night of the Soul. The protagonist, wallowing in pity at having lost everything, is given encouragement from an ally. Compare with the scene at Lincoln's Tomb in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."
