Never heard of this before....crazy....but if it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone! I think it could be interesting to try writing this about someone with dual/multiple personalities. Personality A "self-marries" and almost immediately starts to manifest a relationship with their personality B. After a time personalities A & B's relationship starts to crack because of the interference of Personality C. Not sure if this would be better suited as a comedy or drama.....I suspect comedy would be much harder.

Scott, this one is a real challenge. But I'm game :) Comedy, updated Brewster's Millions. SF woman due to receive an inheritance if she can get married and stay married for a year. Except, there's a stipulation of no pre-nup and thus the marriage has to be genuine. Despite that, she decides to enter a marriage of convenience with another woman, but a snafu in the paperwork means that she's legally married to herself, at least until it can all be fixed. Delighted, she files a lawsuit to prevent that from happening and hoping to delay things for a year, but her new gold-digging partner, aware of the fortune to come, is furious and countersues. Now, as they drag their mutual battle through court, along the way they discover a genuine attraction for each other.

I see a sad, sad drama of a lonely young woman who can't seem to find her groove... her clique... her raison d'etre... her romantic hero, and, while very pretty, is extremely shy and introverted. She sort of reminds me of what my idea of Sylvia Plath would've been like in the end. This girl spends her years innocently daydreaming of love and romance and naively floating through awkward dates with men who don't quite know what to do with such a delicate thing in this day and age. One after another they drop away after getting frustrated with her unintentional abstinence- she literally has no clue about intimacy and is too shy to try- and she falls into a deep depression. She's always daydreamed of falling in love and being a wife and a mother, but her intense shyness can not be overcome. One day on a hapless detour, she wanders by a wedding boutique and stops in her tracks and stares, mouth agape, at the dress in the window. She sees her reflection morph from her plain Jane appearance into a blushing bride with Monet-inspired background of lush English gardens... Alas, it fades as she realizes she is unlucky in love will likely never marry. Going out of her way everyday to pass by this shop, she obsesses over this dress and is always smacked in the face by her seemingly cemented future of solitude. But... she has a plan! She starts a wedding dress savings account and asks to put the dress on hold in hopes that it will inspire her to go forth and conquer her shyness and meet the man of her dreams. Spring is in full swing and she is surrounded by couples in love and bridal expos and photo shoots for bridal magazines and she gets a little boost of encouragement. But nothing. Summer comes around and weddings are happening left and right... But still nothing. Fall comes around and she has not met anyone new nor has she mustered the courage to "go forth". Now it's winter and she is once again alone for the holidays. The idea of facing another year alone by herself is too much to bare. As she's sniffling and crying her way through a box of Kleenex and watching old B&W movies, she gets a ping on her phone telling her she's reached her "dress goal". This, of course, brings more sobs and as she goes to delete it with fury, she hesitates and decides to go buy it instead. At least she can be buried in a wedding dress. She calls the boutique to see if it's still available and they tell her the display is the only one left and if she wants it to hurry because they'll be closing soon- it's NYE. She hadn't even realized what day it was. On her way to the boutique, she passes tons of happy NYE revelers and manages to see half the guys she's ever dated walking hand-in-hand in love and awash in sparkly Christmas light glow- a sight that's played up in her head as everyone is living their life and laughing at how pathetic she is as they walk by and see her alone. She rushes to the store, fights her way through more tears, and buys the dress. Upon her return home she immediately puts it on and it fits. Sad. She's so distraught and can't take it anymore. She runs out of her apartment and all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge- she's going to jump. As she navigates the walkway on the bridge, her dress hidden by a massive cloak of a coat, a man feeling down on his luck is sitting on the edge with his feet dangling over, drinking champagne out of the bottle. While he isn't suicidal, he's wallowing in his own misery- he was just dumped. Again. He is a hopeless romantic and has always been labeled "the nice guy" and gets shoved off to the side by girls who want a little more of the "bad guy". He sees her fair features and dark hair and is instantly drawn to her- is he dreaming? She looks almost angelic in the snow, but she is crying as she looks out over the water. He nearly chokes on the bubblies as she takes off her coat and begins to climb over the ledge. He hops down and runs to her "Hey! What are you doing? Don't!" "Go away!" she says through tears. He eventually talks her down and it's instant love. She found her nice guy and he found his girl who needed a "nice guy". The end. I guess I should've had the running B Story of the guy constantly getting dumped for bad boys, but that just popped up at the last minute. Wow. I can't believe I just went the sappy romance route. Not sure if I should embrace it or take a shot of Tequila and punch myself in the face. Yeesh.

I think it's wacky, insane and ingenious. Showing two longtime friends as playboys deciding to get married to themselves as a ploy to get women is in line with Echo and Narcissus, their ego eventually gets in the way of their goal. Show one man's excuse (Brian) is because there's a greater risk of being hurt than hurting yourself. The other guy (Mike)does it to become the most desired man in the world that women can't have. But when a sexy feminist (Alicia)reporter goes undercover and sets out to prove the men are creating the biggest con to women, the three wind up learning a whole lot more than they bargained for. Definitely as a romantic comedy because its about "self love" vs "mutual love". The dialogue would be hilarious.

I'm going to use this concept for the background of this story. This story takes place in the future (though not too distant future). A scientist named Gloria Salazar works on an undisclosed experiment involving not only cloning (which has now been perfected, though only to recreate people from fetus onward to adult, so essentially with a clean slate) but consciousness as well. Through tireless work she finally manages to perfect cloning. An exact replica of herself is created that shares not only her DNA, but her memories, intelligence, and sensations. Yet, what happens to her clone doesn't actually seem to change her physically (which is first noticed when cutting the clone's fingernails). Gloria reveals her results to the world. The financial strain she underwent to complete her project is finally going to pay off. However, the public doesn't take too well to her experiment. She is seen as an extremist and an agent to the growing population control problem. She is blacklisted from the scientific community, for essentially trying to create the population increasing equivalent to the atom bomb. Gloria, now with her second self and virtually homeless, becomes desperate. Both of her minds are always racing, leading to an appropriate conclusion for their financial situation: life insurance. But she can't very well claim the check on herself, that is unless it was through marriage. She proceeds to marry her clone, take out a life insurance policy, and assist in her clone's suicide. The insurance company is baffled however their hands are tied. At this point in human history, human rights issues are paramount. With the elderly population constantly being subjected to the rejection of insurance companies, new laws protecting them are passed, requiring every insurance company to provide reasonable insurance policies for all potential customers. Also, with assisted suicide being allowed by law for those who so choose it, insurance companies can't withhold money based on the means of said deaths. Life insurance companies manage to stay afloat though with government subsidies. The problem is, after Gloria commits this act the first time, greed kicks in. Soon Gloria is doing this on a weekly basis, with multiple companies. She can't be prosecuted because it isn't murder. The money can't be refused to her because the companies are required by law to abide by these regulations. She's got them by their throats. Cut to five years later and these life insurance companies have had enough. The subsidies aren't even helping them anymore. It is hopeless, as long as Gloria is abusing the system. So the heads of the companies meet together and decide on the only solution: somebody must kill both Glorias and finish her off for good. That way, neither Gloria can collect the check. In comes a team of hardened hitmen and hitwomen, all wanting the ultimate bounty. Our protagonist is one of the more seasoned killers, Atticus Levine. At first the killers seem to be proving themselves quite resourceful, but Gloria becomes ever the more resilient in keeping at least one of herself alive. Atticus realizes the only way to defeat her is to understand her, but when only one person is willing to talk, he has to work together with a hapless former assistant of Gloria, who just so happens to be scared of her own shadow, let alone a gunshot. So essentially, a buddy comedy set in the backdrop of a sci-fi action movie.
