A great scene and a great movie. Maybe too effective in a way - I haven't been able to watch it since it was first released, because although I've got a pretty high threshold for violence, the rape/murder scene, like the one in STAR 80, made me almost physically ill.

Jasper, a visceral moment in Boys Don't Cry to be sure, but an inevitable one in terms of the narrative.

Oh, I agree it was completely necessary - just very tough to watch.
