as someone who works in rescue, my brain instantly goes to the woman who started out with a good heart and good intentions and, unfortunately, gets caught up in the act of rescuing and a) can't stop bringing in all the stray cats and b) can't turn away someone dropping them off at her doorstep. ever seen Year of the Dog with Molly Shannon? this one could take a comical spin a la Cheaper by the Dozen where it's hectic, but somehow works and the husband just can not handle the anarchy any more... or it could take on a deeper sentiment of a woman who has been hiding behind a social butterfly exterior thanks to her husband's high profile job, but is secretly rather introverted and in order to stop herself from succumbing to a complete mental meltdown requires all these cats to relate to. or it could take on a really creepy spin of a woman who appears to be a sweet old lady and opens her cute little B&B in the middle of wherever and people start to go missing and their bodies never discovered. the horror is understated and not actually seen, but implied. hhmm... how DOES she afford to feed all those cats anyway?!?!? or the cats have formed a superpower colony in the middle of a forest and lure all the do-gooder types who think "awe, sweet little lost kitty" and it turns into a massive cat attack, like Piranha or something. bad idea Friday is sort of cathartic. brain detox.

How about a mad man/woman's intentions for world domination. Devising a way to cut of the world's power supply and hold it to ransom while continuing to generate her own power through an elaborate collection of cat-sized hamster wheels and generators? Like Blofeld times 1 Billion.....or 550 at least...

the cat made me do it

That Darn Cat!
Debbie Moon at 2013-04-05 14:50:48:
I want to do this from the cats' POV. But what to do? That many cats, it's going to be an animated movie, so it has to be family-focused. Maybe the woman is lonely, and the cats all swarm to her to cheer her up, but soon realise a human needs human company, and try to set her up with someone. No, that's dull. And kids won't want to watch that. Arrgghh, this is difficult!
Despina at 2013-04-05 14:58:35:
that's a funny visual. i'd especially like to see the part where she gets the cats into the cat-sized hamster balls... she'd have to just leave them lying around open and, just like empty boxes, they will come. (insert an Admiral Akhbar "It's a TRAP!" meme here) maybe she's capitalizing on and monopolizing the ammonia trade with big pharma and cleaning product companies.
Despina at 2013-04-05 15:00:47:
that would be really cute! definitely comedy since it's a known fact that cats are totally indifferent to emoting and notoriously hate people. hehe

I just thought about that movie Birdy with Matthew Modine...

I didn't think about the "waste" from this form of energy.... ewwww..

A circus famous for it's huge collection of big cats travels to New Orleans to perform at the half time show for a big LSU football game. As the convoy rumbles down the highway, it passes through a strange blue cloud emanating from a mysterious government building near the road. But when the convoy arrives, they discover that the game has been cancelled because of an off-shore class 5 hurricane that took an unexpected and sharp change of direction and is now headed for the city once decimated before by storm. With less than 8 hrs before landfall, and no way to get out of the city in time, the circus decides to bunker down and ride out the storm. However, while harmless to humans, the virus spread by the blue cloud has a devastating effect on the big cats, who become frenzied and break their way out of their cages, disappearing into the storm. Now in a city devastated once more by disaster, survivors and rescuers must not only contend with the aftermath of the hurricane, but also with a dozen ravenous Zombie Tigers who want to eat their brains.

These are fun, and I could see some of them working, especially the last two. Cat Nip, Nip, Nip, Nip, Lick.

What if it's a stipulation of the will that she doesn't get the money unless she keeps the cats and gives them a good home? The cats take to her instantly because, of course, she's just a wonderful woman animals are attracted to, and they love and protect her as her husband grows more and more irritated. The cats pick can sense things and know he's checked her will and will inherit everything she's got, so he starts plotting to kill her then dump the cats. The cats pick up on this and the game is afoot. It's the cats against the greedy husband. It could be called Cat Rescue. To save on budget, only three cats are smart and...cat savants? The rest can be cheaply duplicated as indifferent and sunning themselves. Kinda. Or something.

Since I used to live in an area with a bunch of chemical plants that blew up from time to time... A man and a woman have two cats, which the husband runs home to rescue when a nearby chemical plant explodes. He gets them an drives clear of the black cloud of the explosion in time, but there's still a lot of damage done to the house. Just as they're finishing up the repairs and enjoying the wife's redesign of garden and the new spring bloom, they notice something strange. The spring blossoms look furry. They watch with curiosity, go to bed one night and wake up to discover the plants have mutated into cat seedlings from the toxins in the black cloud. The husband asks the wife how many plants she put in the ground, and she says 550. There's no way to count the cats hanging from their window screens and walls, but 550 is the best guess. Now what to do without shooting them, and how to keep their own two beloved cats separated from the invasion. They hide in the house for days trying to come up with plans only to discover the trees have mutated as well and now sprout catnip. They can't take the stress and start fighting terribly until the wife snaps, smears her husband with wet cat food and shoves him out the door to be eaten alive by the cats. She's horrified when she sees him starting to be attacked, calls the police, and that's when she discovers they'd missed the slew of public service announcements warning residents of the area not to drink the water because it was contaminated with a hallucinogen from the toxic cloud. They're both detoxed, the hallucinated cats disappear and they're faced with what they're both capable of doing when times get rough and looking at the underbelly of their relationship that so quickly fell apart. They come to the conclusion that there are...550 Reasons Love Doesn't Last.

This is a tough one. In order to win a million dollars, a woman agrees to participate in a reality show that challenges ten people to spend one month in an enclosed living space...along with 550 cats.
