I'm more of the opinion that this generation doesn't have iconic movie stars. It's not that they aren't attracted to them. It's that they do not exist. Who is this generations Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Arnold, Sly, Patrick Swayze, Kurt Russel? Sadly, the answer to that question is actually -- those very people (only 20-30years older). Here's a challenge: Name one leading actor who broke in 2000 or later whose name implies what kind of movie you are going to see.

James -- good challenge. Really, the only ones I can think of are the Judd Apatow comedy crew (Rogen, Segel, Carrell, etc.). I wonder if the flood of celebrity news/gossip and the creation of so many celebrities through these channels has made it harder for a single person to become a true star with a lasting impact.

Jason Statham.

Bobcat Goldthwait (paraphrased): "I don't make movies for teenagers, because teenagers are fucking morons." I know, I know, I get the value of the post...

What a damning pronouncement about the Rock: "After he’s been in all those kids’ movies, having him in an action movie really doesn’t work.” Ouch!! Hitting him in the jewelbox! I guess he'll have to hold out for The Unbearable Lightness of Being II.
