I enjoyed this series very much as I did with the previous years as well. You've talked about the idea of gestalt understanding before and how if you immerse yourself in a subject matter it becomes part of how you think. This series is part of that. It makes you look for possible stories around you, in everyday life, in the news - everywhere. It also reminds of something that Brian Eno said in the film Here Is What Is in a conversation with Daniel Lanois: “What would be really interesting for people to see [in your film] is how beautiful things grow out of shit. Because nobody ever believes that. Everybody thinks that Beethoven had his string quartets completely in his head—they’d somehow appeared there and formed in his head—before he, and all he had to do was write them down and they would kind of be manifest to the world. But I think what’s so interesting, and what would really be a lesson that everybody should learn is that things come out of nothing, things evolve out of nothing. You know, the tiniest seed in the right situation turns into the most beautiful forest, and then the most promising seed in the wrong situation turns into nothing. And I think this would be important for people to understand, because it gives people confidence in their own lives to know that that’s how things work." So thanks, Scott. I'm looking forward to next April.

A great series with some terrific stories. Thanks, Scott! And I'm definitely going to write something based on that unexploded bomb evacuation idea...

I really like this series, Scott. Not only do I get to read some really interesting or wacky stories every day for a month, but I also get to look inside of another person's thought process to see different ways to spin story ideas out of other stories. Finally, it's also just great to remind me to keep my eyes open in my everyday life for more story ideas. I constantly forget to do this, and it's something I really, really need to be more proactive about. Thanks!

After following the "story ideas" posts, I decided that there are lots of great ideas available. I think that telling a story well is a greater challenge than finding a great idea. And, when we're writing spec scripts, it's important for us to choose ideas that challenge us in just the right ways.
