I agree with you that the VO in Vicky Cristina seems excessive and i can't honestly compare with that glimpse of perfection that is Manhattan's beginning. However, i'd like to know your opinion on the use of voice-over in Bresson's movies, like Pickpocket or A Man Escaped.
