Strangely enough, I found myself watching Twin Peaks clips on youtube this week. I even called out my brother on Facebook for posting a picture that made him look like the one-armed man....

Synchronicity! I was talking about the third video in this post which to me is just about the best 7 minutes of TV like... ever. I remember watching that the end of that episode (it is #2, I believe), turning to my wife so she could get a clear view of my head exploding. This was a prime time series? On ABC? With dancing midgets, some weird variation on backward-masking? The series lost its way, managing to keep up enough steam to get through the solution of the Laura Palmer murder, but fell off the wagon after that. Nonetheless I will always have a fond spot in my heart for "Twin Peaks."

There's a lot of parallels to be made with the series/movie and Mulholland Drive. Some of the same themes, oddball characters... heck, there's even another singing performance like in Blue Velvet. Makes me wonder what the reoccurring motif in his work with female singers singing these haunting songs can be interpreted as: From Blue Velvet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQA0OWJiios From Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQtm1eznrtU From Mulholland Drive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAbmfVzPHFg They all look as though they could have been filmed on the same set.
