Another example of a #1 bestseller book. Unfortunately, the content that its target audience really wants to see is most likely going to be very watered down in a movie version -- especially if the book rights come with a hefty pricetag. I wouldn't be surprised if this wound in permanent development hell. This is something that would have been huge in the late 80s / early 90s.

Sounds a bit like TWILIGHT minus sparkling vampires and plus porn. I dunno, what can you say? Crap sells. I'll be curious to see how they finesse it for a movie series, since the intended audience won't go see a full-on porn movie.

I work in a book store, in fact, one of I believe the only places in the country to get this book. We managed to order a few dozen copies from the publisher in Australia and they were almost immediately sold out. Random House bought the rights for supposed 7 figures and are rushing a print to be ready early April. It's amazing how many moms have come into the store to buy this book. And there was nothing special about this print of the book. A very boring paperback with no character. I won't get into the story, since I don't really know it, but if this gets made I'm sure it will be huge. The fact that it's a trilogy helps.

A woman losing control. Wasn't that part of the appeal of Bridesmaids? Bestseller! What producer can resist that sweet, sweet appellation?

This project literally was first published as Twilight fanfic (titled "Master of the Universe") and then had the twilight serial numbers filed off to turn it into 50 Shades (i.e., Mr. Cullen became Mr Grey). I'm sure the studios see a huge-crossover with the existing Twilight audience.
