Initial gut reaction: Not good.
Granted, it's just a trailer. But trailers usually are artfully constructed to make you want to see the movie. This didn't do that, for me at least.
Just off the cuff: Too many things going on:
ghosts;
vampires;
witches;
supernatural curses;
fish out of water moments that weren't that funny;
then a sexy witch that reappears in the modern day;
Barnabus has to successfully run the family business in the cutthroat world of the boardroom (wha?)
Disco dances and the 70s kitsch juxtaposed with the gothic world of the Collins house;
and finally, he seems like a vampire without teeth, so to speak. The movie wants to trade on the cache of having a vampire main character without paying the moral price of doing that. He's innocent! Likable! "he's just a nice guy that got dealt a raw deal by that mean old witch!" I thought the idea of a vampiric patriarch, and all the darkness attendant to that, was the whole idea of the menace of the original Dark Shadows.
But, I guess we'll see.
