This is interesting, comparing new comedy to "old comedy" (Billy Wilder), "There’s more jokes and less charm, I would say, in comedy over the years." Well said, and I agree it's neither right or wrong, Ms. Meyers just says it's different. But I wonder... is there an opportunity here? A "charm" revival? I hope so.

I believe she has essentially described the HANGOVER franchise. The first film was a very clever story, well-written with many plot twists and turns and in addition it was funny. But the sequel was nothing but a bunch of jokes on screen for 90+ minutes.
