Looks like found footage is the new hotness. And I thought zombies or mermaids or zombie mermaids was going to be 2012 hotness.

"This is the 8th spec script sale in 2012. Last year at this time, there had been 1 spec script sale. My math skills aren’t what they used to be and please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t that mean sales are up 800% this year?" Nope. Sales are up 700%. Going from 1 to 1 is an increase of 0%. Going from 1 to 2 is an increase of 100%. Going from 1 to 3 is an increase of 200%. Going from 1 to 4 is an increase of 300%. .. Going from 1 to 8 is an increase of 700%. It's a common mistake. Mac

You can say that it has increased to 800% of the previous value. But it is an increase of 700%. Make sense now? Mac (PS: I've actually seen film business plans that made this mistake in a tragic way ... they thought that returning 30% of the investor's money was the same thing as offering the investor a 30% return on their money! Very sad.)

As a writer, if one gets wind of another project in development that is very similar to one you are in the process of writing, your heart sinks and you go back to the drawing board. But, in fact, it would seem you should carry on regardless and pray that this other idea is a tearaway success. Funny old world, isn't it?

Hey, Mac, thanks for that. I had been doing it correctly the last few years, but for some reason with the number 1 involved, it confused me. In any event due to your mathematical insight and taking the time to set me straight, I hereby give you a nice dollop of creative juju. Whoooooooooooooosh!!!!!!!
