Earl, it's all about getting your story in front of the right set of eyeballs. All it takes is one person. One. But as John's experience suggests, sometimes that requires going through a lot of eyeballs to find your advocate, buyer, champion, etc.

Reminds me of that guy who wrote HANNA. What is sort of glossed over in these stories (unless you've lived it) is how time consuming and soul-crushing it can be to send pitches to agencies.
