61.
The last few weeks will weigh heavily on the minds of execs going into the first part of this year:
1. the success of franchises like Twilight, MI, Sherlock Holmes, Chipmunks.
2. the less-successful box office of adaptations based on lesser-known material, especially 'prestige' adaptations: Dragon Tattoo, War Horse, Tintin, Hugo, We Own a Zoo.
3. the deafening thuds of non-franchise releases like: Tower Heist, The Sitter, Arthur Christmas, In Time.
Add those together and you're going to get a very conservative year in Hollywood development. "Prestige" is going to take a big hit, since Spielberg just laid two financial eggs in a two-week span.
