61. The last few weeks will weigh heavily on the minds of execs going into the first part of this year: 1. the success of franchises like Twilight, MI, Sherlock Holmes, Chipmunks. 2. the less-successful box office of adaptations based on lesser-known material, especially 'prestige' adaptations: Dragon Tattoo, War Horse, Tintin, Hugo, We Own a Zoo. 3. the deafening thuds of non-franchise releases like: Tower Heist, The Sitter, Arthur Christmas, In Time. Add those together and you're going to get a very conservative year in Hollywood development. "Prestige" is going to take a big hit, since Spielberg just laid two financial eggs in a two-week span.

@LALetts weighs in from Twitter with 77.
Mike at 2011-12-28 20:56:04:
I'll go with 106

124. That puts me on the 'highly optimistic' end of the spectrum, but I figure that with a lot of high-profile franchises (Batman, Harry Potter, Twilight) coming to definitive ends, studios will look to the spec market as the least-risky starting point for potential new cash cows.
Courtney Chambers at 2011-12-28 23:27:45:
Let's go with 92. No reasoning behind the number other than it was a great year. Oh, and for the record... One one of the 92... will be MINE!!!
landvermesser at 2011-12-28 23:43:13:
I'll take the 101 - because it took me a the "longest Route" to get into screenwriting.
Adem at 2011-12-29 04:25:31:
I was so attached to ninety-two... I'll take 91 then!
Adem at 2011-12-29 04:31:54:
Mr. Hogan would protest! 74 guessed @LALetts.
Tony at 2011-12-29 05:06:35:
IŽll go for 88. Not because of Eric Lindros but because thereŽs magic in the number. Right, very sound reasoning, yep.
Tim Nargi Jr at 2011-12-29 09:08:35:
I had 91 in the comments in the previous post, wasn't updated here.
Scott at 2011-12-29 09:45:48:
