I am excited about Lena Dunham's career. It's mindblowing that a 24 year old woman is writing/directing/starring in an Apatow-produced HBO tv show.
But it really grates on me when people call her the "voice of the generation." Lena Dunham and I grew up in the same city, and the fact that we were on two different sides of a park meant that her generation is completely different than mine. Her voice may be particularly unique, but no generation is epitomized in one person.
That being said, I will be the first one to get my hands on a DVD of Tiny Furniture and I will make sure my boyfriend (who actually has HBO) DVRs the pilot of GIRLS. Best of luck, Lena!
