Thrillers and sci-fi still drawing a lot of attention - good news for me... Love the concept of Two Night Stand - a great genre-bender, taking a contained thriller setting and setting a rom-com there. Smart writing. Off the top of my head, there seem to be a lot of real life stories and personal angles on historic events this year. i wonder what's driving that?

:). More specifically than "Oscars," it's that biopics like that tend to attract an A-list star. They can be movies that span multiple decades, they're usually about relatively interesting or unique people (hopefully) and they're usually people that your average citizen has heard of and has a working knowledge of. Actors are drawn to the chance to play those sorts of characters, and studio heads are drawn to them for that same reason (casting Leo in your movie is always a plus) and because they're their own form of "branded entertainment." They're not a line of toys like Transformers, but everyone's heard of Colin Powell.
