To be statistically fair, Scott. It's great this got set up. But don't think it counts as a spec sale. It was originally set up in 2009 with DiBonaventura at Fox Searchlight with John Moore attached to direct. Looks like DiBon is just moving it to IM Global. So either the option ran out or they snagged it in turnaround.

Actually Done Deal says per its archive, the original deal for "Kidnap" with Fox Searchlight dates to 7/24/2006! Most of the time, these do get logged as turnaround deals because of the costs associated with paying back the original buyer's development costs. I don't know the specifics of this deal with IM Global. If someone does, please let me know. Perhaps Fox Searchlight let it go free and clear, the writer rewrote it to freshen it up, then they went back out on the market with it. So I guess we chalk this up for now as one of those 'gray area' specs. Since I don't have it originally in my files as a spec in 2006, seems fair to list it this year as such, especially since all the trackers I know have listed it as a spec sale. But thanks, Alfred, for that reminder re the original deal. Tracking spec script sales is an inexact science which is why I always couch the numbers I post with "By my count."
