I thought it was pretty easy to follow the events chronologically, even out of order. But this is a great example how tone and pacing can hold a film together. What's interesting, is I find the Mia storyline to really drag in this version. It kind of comes out of nowhere and is difficult for it to follow the robbery scene because of its more subtle toned down nature. In the original out of order timeline, I find it to be one of the more interesting, compelling stories. In the original cut, the tension builds from the opening shot to the end. In this reordered cut, tension builds to the midpoint (which is interesting that the finale of the original serves as the midpoint of the recut) and then the tension feels like it is reset. Tension has to build anew from this point to the end. And it does -- it just lost a lot of momentum. @Scott -- There's a chronological recut of MEMENTO out there if you want to check that out.
