Cloverfield is monster in the house kind of film, the difference is, the house in now Manhattan. The story line is simple we have seen this movie several times before but now they made it different by making it a found footage film; clever.
I did not see this movie, for the simple reason that I get motion sickness, I had fair share of that sort of pain with Blair witch project:).
There are things in the script which I liked very much, such as opening and the segway to Rob's weekend with Beth. I think it was very cleverly placed and very cool. I thought the whole party scene was written very well. I don't know what end up making into the film.
It was predictable at times, I kind of figured out who is going to die in which order, It was obvious to me. For a found footage it has a structure. Also Rob's heroism and the whole act of going to Beth's building was cheesy and unrealistic, it actually in a sense disappointed me.
Found footage is also a very smart way of giving audience the visceral feeling of monster's presence without even showing it.
I am neutral about the script, also it feels like, they had this cool idea but they did not put enough effort into work on the story, it could have been better.
Cheers
