Thanks so much for these, Wilder's my favourite director by a nautical mile! Best Wilder story I ever heard (and it may be apocryphal) was when he worked with the seminal costume designer Edith Head, and graffiti'd in the toilets 'Edith Head gives good costume.

Colm, that's one thing that becomes apparent when you read or hear interviews with Wilder: He loved puns and turns of phrases. BTW if you've never seen Wilder's acceptance speech for the Thalberg Award in which he tells an amazing story about his immigration to the U.S., it's here.
