Every time I hear/read this writing philosophy I wince a little and think of Billy Wilder's quote, "I don't make 'cinema.' I make movies." I applaud writers who write stories that "need to be told," but take issue when they scoff at the "terribly wrongheaded" writers who just want to "make movies," *gulp* for money. How 'bout this instead? Write whatever keeps your bum in the chair and puts black words on white paper. :)
