"Tintin", "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and "Young Adult" are what I am most looking forward to. In my humble opinion I think 2010 deserves to defeat 2011's box office. 2010 had numerous instances of high quality and high consumption merging in a beautiful marriage ("Inception", "The Black Swan"," Toy Story 3", "the King's Speech". But I am much more excited about what 2012 has to offer: "The Dark Knight Rises", "Django Unchained", "Dark Shadows", "The Hobbit", "Lincoln", "Red Tails", "Jack the Giant Killer" "The Great Gatsby" "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Expendables 2" -- for starters :). I would love to see 2012 live up to all the impossibly large hype I am already forcing it to live up to.

"War Horse" will doubtless do well this year. "The Descendants" should have some legs and will numerous award nominations, should do some decent albeit not franchise blockbuster business. Jason, you're right about last year. And if you throw in "The Social Network," "The Fighter," and "True Grit," there were many moderately budgeted adult dramas that delivered both critically and with their ROI.

Is this the worst year for movies...ever? It's almost December and I'm having a hard time thinking of even 1 movie could be a decent best picture nominee -- let alone a winner. And 5 or 10 of them?!? Oh, that's right Alvin and the Chipmunks. I stand corrected.
