Also a sci-fi / geek writer so I listen to a lot of "Two Steps From Hell" and anything Hans Zimmer. "The Dark Knight" theme is so motivating. -Jim

When I write thrillers, I love listening to soundtracks from action movies... Enemy of the State, Armageddon, Con Air, Eagle Eye, Bournes, Live Free or Die Hard, etc...

I make a playlist for each project. My current set has a lot of Fleet Foxes, Beatles, Queens of The Stone Age, and Sufjan Stevens on it.

Radiohead. That, or jazz -- miles davis, bossa nova.

any jazz radio. hopefully instrumental. no vocals.

I have eclectic tastes, and too many things to really list, but I'm a guitar head, so a lot of Allan Holdsworth, Robert Fripp, Ry Cooder, John Williams (the guitar player), Django, Lightning Hopkins, Mahavishnu, etc... The Temper Trap. Actually, just one song of theirs, over and over and over, but not when I'm writing, just when I'm thinking. It's soundtrack perfect for this particular story.

Like Josh, I'm listening to the Inception score, because I'm writing a sci-fi action short at the moment. But I love The Fountain, so I'm gonna check out the score now!

I seem to listen to Mozarts Requiem, Brian Eno, Cliff Martinez Solaris soundtrack, and Daft Punks Tron Legacy most of the time.
