For a moment there, I thought you meant James Benning, the avant-garde "landscape" filmmaker (13 Lakes, RR). "Wow, I didn't know Scott was on a nickname basis with him..." Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back To The Future...those early blockbuster franchises were almost too good. They made tent-pole movies look so easy and so tempting, thus inspiring countless big-budget junk ever since. Of those Big 3 franchises, Indiana Jones has held up the least well for me. Star Wars is steady. Back To The Future has gotten even better over time (even parts 2 & 3). BTW, I still can't believe that the first BTTF only cost an estimated $19M to make! Even adjusted for inflation, that's insane. And it includes a few weeks of failed production time with Eric Stoltz as Marty. Can you imagine a summer sci-fi flick today costing anything less than $80M? $100M?
