Little Miss Sunshine (2006) Written by Michael Arndt http://movieclips.com/u3EYr-little-miss-sunshine-movie-olives-ice-cream/ Richard: Olive, can I tell you something about ice-cream? (she nods) Ice cream is made from cream, which comes from cow's milk. And cream has a lot of fat in it... Sheryl: Richard... Richard: What? “She's gonna find out anyway.” Right? Olive: Find out what? Richard: Well, when you eat lots of ice-cream, you're gonna become big and fat. But if you don't, you'll probably stay nice and skinny. Sheryl put her head in her hands. Grandpa: Olive, Richard's an idiot. I like a woman with meat on her bones. Olive is confused. Olive: I don't... Mom! Why is everyone upset? Sheryl: I'm not upset, honey. I just want you to understand: It's okay to be skinny, and it's okay to be fat, if that's how you want to be. Whatever you want – it's okay. Richard rolls his eyes. Richard: Okay, but, Olive, let me ask you: the women in Miss America...? Are they skinny or are they fat? Olive: Well... They're skinny, I guess. Richard: Okay! So they probably don't eat a lot of ice-cream. Do they? Just then, the waitress arrives with a tray. Waitress: Okay: Coffee, coffee, grapefruit, chamomile. And here's your ice-cream. A la mod -ee, right? I'll have your waffles in a sec! She departs. Olive stares at the ice-cream. Finally: Olive: Does anyone want my ice-cream? Sheryl just closes her eyes. Grandpa jumps in. Grandpa: Yeah, I'll have a bite. You mind? Dwayne? Frank? Olive's giving away her ice-cream here. Dwayne and Frank quickly snaps to. Frank: You mind if I have a little? Olive shakes her head. Frank and Dwayne dig in. Even Sheryl gets in on the act. Richard is not amused. Grandpa (loudly): Boy, this is good ice-cream! I feel sorry for the people at this table who aren't enjoying delicious ice-cream early in the morning. Olive, you're not givin' away all your ice-cream? What about your waffles? You can't eat waffles without the ice-cream! You'll have lonely waffles in your stomach! C'mon, have a bite. Olive: Wait. Don't take it all! Stop! Olive picks up her spoon, fights them off. She takes a bite. Richard: Olive... Sheryl: Richard...! She glares at him, ferocious. Richard shuts up.

This one from the Matrix: AGENT SMITH: Do we have a deal, Mr. Reagan? A fork stabs the cube of meat and we FOLLOW it UP TO the face of Cypher. CYPHER: You know, I know that this steak doesn't exist. I know when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, do you know what I've realized? He shoves it in, eyes rolling up, savoring the tender beef melting in his mouth. CYPHER: Ignorance is bliss. Agent Smith watches him chew the steak loudly, smacking it between his teeth. CYPHER: Mmm so, so goddamn good. AGENT SMITH: Then we have a deal? … Followed by this: CLOSE ON breakfast, a substance with a consistency somewhere between yogurt and cellulite. TANK: Here you go, buddy. Breakfast of champions. Tank slides it in front of Neo and takes a seat with the other crew members enjoying breakfast. Mouse: If you close your eyes, it almost feels like you're eating runny eggs. Apoc: Yeah, or a bowl of snot. Mouse: Do you know what it really reminds me of? Tasty Wheat. Did you ever eat Tasty Wheat? Switch: No, but technically, neither did you. Mouse: That's exactly my point. Exactly. Because you have to wonder: how do the machines know what Tasty Wheat tasted like? Maybe they got it wrong. Maybe what I think Tasty Wheat tasted like actually tasted like oatmeal, or tuna fish. That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example: maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything. Apoc: Shut up, Mouse.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wtfNE4z6a8 Dupea: I'd like a plain omelette, no potatoes, tomatoes instead, a cup of coffee, and wheat toast. Waitress: (She points to the menu) No substitutions. Dupea: What do you mean? You don't have any tomatoes? Waitress: Only what's on the menu. You can have a number two - a plain omelette. It comes with cottage fries and rolls. Dupea: Yeah, I know what it comes with. But it's not what I want. Waitress: Well, I'll come back when you make up your mind. Dupea: Wait a minute. I have made up my mind. I'd like a plain omelette, no potatoes on the plate, a cup of coffee, and a side order of wheat toast. Waitress: I'm sorry, we don't have any side orders of toast...an English muffin or a coffee roll. Dupea: What do you mean you don't make side orders of toast? You make sandwiches, don't you? Waitress: Would you like to talk to the manager? Dupea: ...You've got bread and a toaster of some kind? Waitress: I don't make the rules. Dupea: OK, I'll make it as easy for you as I can. I'd like an omelette, plain, and a chicken salad sandwich on wheat toast, no mayonnaise, no butter, no lettuce. And a cup of coffee. Waitress: A number two, chicken sal san, hold the butter, the lettuce and the mayonnaise. And a cup of coffee. Anything else? Dupea: Yeah. Now all you have to do is hold the chicken, bring me the toast, give me a check for the chicken salad sandwich, and you haven't broken any rules. Waitress (spitefully): You want me to hold the chicken, huh? Dupea: I want you to hold it between your knees. Waitress (turning and telling him to look at the sign that says, "No Substitutions") Do you see that sign, sir? Yes, you'll all have to leave. I'm not taking any more of your smartness and sarcasm. Dupea: You see this sign? (He sweeps all the water glasses and menus off the table.)

Unfortunately, IMDb has only the end of scene dialogue. The You Tube clip includes the entire scene, which foreshadows the end of the movie and provides a manly counterpoint to Rita Wilson's emotional remembrance of "An Affair to Remember". Sam Baldwin: Well I'm not looking for a mail-order bride! I just want somebody I can have a decent conversation with over dinner. Without it falling down into weepy tears over some movie! Greg: She's, as you just saw, very emotional. Sam Baldwin: Although I cried at the end of "the Dirty Dozen." Greg: Who didn't? Sam Baldwin: Jim Brown was throwing these hand grenades down these airshafts. And Richard Jaeckel and Lee Marvin [Begins to cry] Sam Baldwin: were sitting on top of this armored personnel carrier, dressed up like Nazis... Greg: [Crying too] Stop, stop! Sam Baldwin: And Trini Lopez... Greg: Yes, Trini Lopez! Sam Baldwin: He busted his neck while they were parachuting down behind the Nazi lines... Greg: Stop. Sam Baldwin: And Richard Jaeckel - at the beginning he had on this shiny helmet... Greg: [Crying harder] Please no more. Oh God! I loved that movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coOYa4h98M4&feature=related

When Harry Met Sally..., the Orgasm conversation: Sally Albright: Most women at one time or another have faked it. Harry Burns: Well, they haven't faked it with me. Sally Albright: How do you know? Harry Burns: Because I know. Sally Albright: Oh. Right. Thats right. I forgot. Youre a man. Harry Burns: What was that supposed to mean? Sally Albright: Nothing. Its just that all men are sure it never happened to them and all women at one time or other have done it so you do the math. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-bsf2x-aeE

I never get tired of this scene. We could probably have a pretty good week with just mealtime scenes with Jack Nicholson - this scene, the melted cheese on the burger scene from THE LAST DETAIL, the lunch with Noah Cross from CHINATOWN, lunch with Aurora in TERMS OF ENDEARMENT, breakfast with Wendy in THE SHINING, lunch with Billy and Capt. America and the rednecks from EASY RIDER, and breakfast with Helen Hunt in AS GOOD AS IT GETS.
