I've read - in that story and in the comments - that it's one of the better scripts floating around at the moment... So add that to Leo and Ron H interested and it looks like WB is looking for Oscar material. Sounds a little "Beautiful Mind-ish" with a homosexual twist...

I've read the book a couple of times and I know Turing well from my comp sci degrees and a lot of other outside reading. I've been thinking for years it would make a great movie. Part King's Speech, part tragic life of a persecuted gay genius, like Gary Oldman in Prick Up Your Ears, plus technology and spy stuff. And WWII-era England just looks awesome on film. FYI, the name "The Imitation Game" is Turing's name for what later become the Turing Test, which is the real-life basis for, among other things, the test that Deckert administers to Rachel in Bladerunner to determine if she's human or replicant. Turing's influence on computing and society can't be overstated. I'm glad to know DiCaprio is involved because it might get the treatment it deserves, and I am totally jealous that a first-timer got to do this on spec before I could. (Although you probably couldn't tell his story without rights to Hodge's book; it's that good.)
