If you're not afraid of poisoning the well or merely being negative, I'd love to read more about the Trojan War experience. I seem to recall Rossio writing that one of his and Elliot's scripts got a director attached for really bizarre reasons--doing the math, it had to be Little Monsters. I notice that Trojan War, like Little Monsters, had a first time feature director. I imagine that's tough for seasoned writers. Anyway, again, would love to read about that project.

Attachments are good in all but a tiny minority of cases. I got an agent through an attachment. A fairly well-known TV actor (represented by a friend of my mothers, would you believe? So milk those contacts, guys!)was very keen to play the lead. This was enough to interest an agent who took me on. It since came to nothing, but later the same script was optioned. Another screenplay managed to get Dev Patel 'interested' - and even without any official attachment we suddenly could get directors to read. People are just looking for signposts in a jungle of projects. The fact that someone else likes it enough to put their name on it is as good a filter as any.
