Reading this fantastic piece by Hart I almost feel like I'm sure I don't have the writer's Third-Hand: "But something I can tell you categorically about musicians and physicists is that if you spend enough time amongst them you soon discover whether or not you are in their league – whether or not you share the weird magical rhythms of their thinking processes, whether you possess that extra Third-Eye which allows you to envision the building blocks of reality without your head imploding or the Third-Ear which not only hears the Lost Chord but instructs your fingers how to play it on a Fender Telecaster."

Stephen Fry in the audience! Indeed great motivation to write. Creating order from chaos, the delight (and plight?) of the artist, what a great observation from Hanson, and what a joy to read this.

Every screenwriter or TV writer is different, but there's one thing they have in common, even if the creativity varies from soul to soul: The ability to sit one's ass on a chair and knock out pages. While it's terrific to have inspiration, and I would guess even better to have a Third-Eye, a Third-Ear, a Third-Hand, it's essential to have a First-Butt.

Came across this post yesterday, brilliant writer Jason Aaron (wiki pg here), who sits his First-Butt down everyday at 9 and writes until 5, strict schedule, and that's just his official writing time (he's writing all the time in his head). "If you want to be a writer, then just be a writer. Be one every day, all day." More here.
