Sweet! Can't wait for pt 2.
Teddy Pasternak at 2011-09-19 16:39:17:
Cool. Congratulations Greg on all your success! Speaking of 1408, I wanted to suggest that script for the horror analysis next month. However, it is not available on MyPDFScripts although it is readily available elsewhere. Is there a way for you to add scripts to that site, Scott? I've tried unsuccessfully in the past to add scripts and I received no response from the site host. Do you have any inside scoop?

Great interview, Greg and Scott. Very cool that Greg went ahead with a spec even though he was already wading in OWA waters. I love to hear about scripts getting reworked for the international marketplace.

There's so much insight in Greg's answers about how to think, act, and be a professional screenwriter, most of it obvious I'm sure. But here's something that might have slipped past us: "The genesis was simple. I was back East. I saw the road sign. I thought, that’s a cool fucking title for an action/thriller." The sign: I-95. You know, the same sign a zillion drivers see a zillion times a day. Probably 100,000 writers have driven past the sign hundreds of times, and only one of them thought, "That's a cool fucking title for an action/thriller." His name: Greg Russo. That's a part of being a screenwriter: Always keeping one track of your consciousness alert to the stories that are out there. Because the fact is, stories are out there. Everywhere. We just have to have eyes to see them.

Can I borrow Greg's glasses?
Scott at 2011-09-20 01:15:52:
Courtney, premise for a bad movie perhaps. A screenwriter somehow stumbles onto a pair of glasses that allows him/her to see great high concept stories in the world around them. What would you do with that conceit? Thriller: Another screenwriter kills the first one to access the glasses. Then another. Comedy: Writer scores some writing gigs, then loses the glasses and loses his ability to come up with story ideas. What would you do? Maybe a short film...
