Weird coincidence, I just watched this movie (for the 4th, 5th, 6th? time) last night.
I like that speech very much. And of course it's right on the money about the kind of person/ politician - and they have always existed - who wants to make the people fear something and find a scapegoat.
But I especially like the personal aspect, when he sticks up for Sydney and smacks down Rumson: "You better stick with me, 'cause Sydney Ellen Wade is way out of your league."
(Of course, in yet another example of how Far Right the country has swung, now if you're pro-public school teachers that will be an excuse for the Right to denigrate you.)
