I never really read PF even though I have it bookmarked -- and this one was pretty good! Reminded me of Super 8!

Nick, I've been pimping PF since just about the day Derek launched the site. As I noted in this post, it's not only home to some good reading, it's also another avenue for writers to break into Hollywood as Derek has an open submission policy. And several projects have been acquired by Hollywood producers or studios. Plus by all accounts, Derek is a terrific person (I only know him a bit through online stuff).

So by all means, share the Popcorn Fiction URL with your friends!

Scott, have they become overwhelmed by submissions as a result of your promotion and an open submission policy?

@CRANKY: I have no idea. I recommend STRONGLY before anybody submits anything they do the following:

* Read a bunch of the published PF stories so you know the type of content they're looking for.

* Include in that a sense of typical word count.

* Have several writers read your story and critique. Not parents, spouses, and friends, but actual writers. If you don't have any writer friends, join OTTfilms which is where The GITS Club is migrating to. I'm sure you can get good, informed feedback there.

* Finally if you do submit material, understand PF is extremely competitive. For example, I have a friend who has submitted at least two short stories there. This friend is a working screenwriter and playwright, repped by a manager and agent, so we are talking a professional writer. And neither of his stories was picked.

Definitely will! I remember reading SHAKE a year ago (or longer?) before Bruckheimer snatched it up and it was removed -- either your post sent me there or a Triggerstreet link.
