I second Liar Liar, it was a spec, not written by the director and it made a gazillion dollars at the box office.

However, I couldn't find it on myPDFscripts.com... it's on both dailyscript.com and IMSDb.com.

One benefit of doing Bridesmaids is how recent the movie is. Not sure how closely the movie hews to the script, but we'd find out, wouldn't we?

I have a feeling Bridesmaids will win from the looks of things... but I'm okay with that -- looks like fun.

From what I've gathered the script was slapped together quickly by Wiig after Apatow asked for a story -- had no clue what she was doing and purchased a book on screenwriting. (this is the nutshell version of course)

I would love to see the spec... not the polish.

About which draft to use with Gladiator -- the one on pdf scripts is not really usable, it has almost no resemblance to the actual movie.

I have a draft that comes very close to the movie.

Bridesmaids, Fish Called Wanda, Groundhog Day (@Saint716, my vote's with movie, and probably produced bigger box office than orig script would have), Legally Blonde, and all the other suggestions, would be great. For good comedies being hard to get in movie theater, there sure are a lot of great possibilities to read.

My vote is for 40 Year Old Virgin. Great characters, great concept, lots of great screenwriting lessons. It's also addictively watchable. As funny on the tenth viewing as it is on the first.

I have to say that Crazy Stupid Love is one of the best scripts I've read. I read that 3 times and learned how to write a third act lol :)

Dan Fogelman is selling everything he touches for over a million dollars without even breaking a sweat. I don't think there's anyone else out there right now having that much consistent success. Worth taking a look, I'd think.

I've been pondering this comedy one for a few days now (and am pleased to see that Bridesmaids has taken the prize) but I would love to find and study a draft of Bogdanovich's "What's Up Doc?" I can't think of a faster paced, wittier, and more uproarious comedy. There are literally dozens of keeper lines and quotable dialogue. My father introduced me to this flick at a young age and it's become the post Thanksgiving dinner movie for the past decade or so. (much to the chagrin of my mother, who PRETENDS to hate it but always winds up having to mute a guffaw or two).

I know that my hero, Robert Benton, had a hand in this thing, as did Buck Henry...

Anyone have a lead on this one???
