Lately, I've focused more on monitoring my distractions than the actual writing process. Writing is easy and fun for me - once I get rolling. It's the breaks from writing that keeps throwing me off pace. So, I've recently taken to keeping a guitar nearby. Now, I try learning a new song when taking a break from writing. This new practice keeps me creatively engaged, allowing for subconscious ideas to percolate, while I enjoy that much-needed breather from scene descriptions and dialogue.
