Maybe I'm bitching here...

But why?

Why are there no posts here?

This is why we're here... right?

We follow Scott because he's been there -- the "Everyman" that worked his ass off to tell HIS story...

(if "Everyman" offends you Scott, sorry)

But it was told -- and he made it happen.

Not a Hollywood guy -- but he made it happen. Period.

The process is not easy -- Lord knows I'm living it right now.

But find YOUR story! Don't worry about the rest --

If you tell YOUR story and work your ass off... but think it's the end of the line trust me...

When you least expext it... the story will find you.

And you will never let it go.

And to be quite honest... it will never let you go...

Until you tell it.

I'm going to be a raging optimist and assume that the lack of comments on this post of all posts is due to the fact that it was so blindingly inspiring that everyone is too busy actually writing to comment.

I'll just say from experience that I do a TON of 3rd man-ing. I get a vague idea, I hold onto it for 5 years and constantly threaten to actually do something about it, and usually...don't.

Not today, though. Today I wrote 20 pages of a vomit draft for an idea that I'd been--to steal Scott's language--battling for just about 7 years. Fighting myself over how to write it, when to write it, whether or not I was good enough to write it, that all got me probably 8 or 9 different outlines over the years and at least two failed starts to Act I.

Not today. Today I found an entire days worth of writing and 20 exhausting pages. Tomorrow I'm planning on finding just as many.

Oh, also: absolutely fantastic post, Scott. If I find a more important piece on writing this week, I'll eat hats.

I figured I had frightened everyone enough with my barbecue killer dream from the first Spec Spirit post that I should take a few plays off.

As a strong believer of “talk is cheap”, I tend to find that I talk a lot, maybe too much. But often times I am able to pull inspiration, or even do a little brainstorming on the spot. So when I get to the writing I’m mentally ready. Just working toward being able to produce a product that can backup all my delusions of awesomeness.
