Strictly box-office-wise, yes.

However, "Green Lantern" will undoubtedly make more for the studio overall with merchandising tie-ins. Unless Apatow gets on making "Bridesmaid" action figures and video games -- hmmm...now there's an idea.

Good point, Goose. Increasingly important as movies become more and more an excuse to promote merchandising.

While it's true "Green Lantern" will eventually make more money than "Bridesmaids," the fact remains movies will become more and more marginalized unless more original, well-done fare like "Bridesmaids" hits the marketplace. The CGI/superhero thing can't go on forever. Things simply run their course, a'la the action flicks of the late 80s/early 90s.

And while I loved Bridesmaids, we know the inevitable will be an onslaught of Bridemaids look-a-likes (can't wait for those!...) which will prove that conventional wisdom wouldn't have died.

They never really learn.
