Also watch the DVD extras with interviews with director/screenwriter Mike Leigh and the actors on how they together created these great characters. It's a masterclass in creating believable, deep characters.

The first movie to come to mind is def. River's Edge 1986 Directed by Tim Hunter, Writer Neal Jimenez,Starring:
Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves and Ione Skye .

There are a few psychotic characters in this great movie but Dennis Hopper as Feck is my favorite.

I couldn't find the video of my favorite scene which is the hospital scene where he says: "I don't feel so good. I just lost a good friend today."
